English Championships 2022

Jumpers had 22 entries for the English Championships mixed between trampoline, synchro, dmt and tumbling. All in all we came away with 15 of these entries making a final and then three bronze medals, two silver medals and two gold medals, making 7 medals in total.

Day one was made up of silver level gymnasts and within DMT we had the following results:

Lucas Hill Moorey put together two strong prelim exercises to get his position in the final qualifying in 7th position. Within that final he remained clean showing good lines and managed to climb to 6th position.

Mark Richardson started well with exercise one but unfortunately within exercise two, was deemed to repeat a skill and invoke some deductions from his score. Mark still finished in 10th position.

Canay Sagbasan had a cracking prelim round with two strong exercises to qualify to the final in 2nd position, within that final a surge of adrenalin must have affected her as she wasn’t able to land her double back dismount and she ended up in 8th position.

Elizabeth Lowings sat well after the prelims in 5th position qualifying for the final, within that final she managed to land her double dismount strong to squeeze into final 2 in 4th position (top 4 make final 2) Within final 2 she hit her highest score to be tied for 2nd place and then moved to 3rd on a count back rule.

Olivia Breaker was here for the silver trampoline section and had a few wobbles but showed great determination at such a young age to carry on and finish in 16th position

Lucas Hill Moorey was back for the silver trampoline section and hit very good HD scores alongside competing a 6.6 DD for only the 2nd time to secure a 14th position.

Mark Richardson was also back for the silver trampoline section and secured the 11 time of flight score he wanted in his 1st routine alongside competing a full twisting back for the first time to finish in 15th position.

Ella Monk was taking part in the silver trampoline section and after a good first exercise, showed great determination in the 2nd to keep going even when her routine had lost its rhythm, she made a valiant attempt to finish the routine but incurred landing deductions to finish in 11th position.

Alice Feazey Noble was taking part in her last ever competition for Jumpers, (Alice has moved to Liverpool) Alice performed 2 very good routines combining solid execution, HD and TOF to qualify to the final in 6th. Within that final she managed to climb a place to 5th position.

Day Two was made up of Gold level gymnasts and we had the following results:

Jess Dawes was within the Tumbling section and put together an amazing first two passes to be leading going into the final, sadly within this final Jess lost her rhythm after her big double back transition and was unable to finish the pass. She finished in 5th position but was the only woman in the whole competition to compete a double transition in the middle of her exercise.

Summer Denniss was within the DMT section and after a good first round had qualified for the final in 5th position, within this first final she hit her best exercise to qualify to final 2 in 4th position. Within final 2 Summer hit exactly the same score again to actually be tied for 3rd place but moved to 4th on count back.

Emily Smith was in the Senior Ladies DMT section and lead the way after the prelim round showing two good passes including a solid land of one of her bigger skills. Within final 1 she made a sensible choice to sub her dismount and get qualified to final 2 in 4th position. Emily really went for it in final 2 and smashed her pass to hit a PB score and bring home the Gold.

Joseph Watson was in the Youth Gold section and hit some very good scores and new PBs in the prelim round to qualify to the final in 4th position. Within that final Joseph smashed his existing PB score to hold his position and finish in 4th place.

Sophie Yates was in the Youth Gold section and after round one had held her nerve enough and show stable routines to get herself qualified to the final in 6th position. Within that final Sophie overcame some nerves to finish her routine and not drop a position and hold onto her 6th place.

Jayden Boreham was in the Junior Gold Section and started well hitting a PB time of flight score in his set followed by a solid 2nd routine to qualify to final in 4th position. Within that final he produced his best vol of the year to secure that position and finish in 4th.

Kian Terry was also in the Junior Gold Section and after a shaky first round he showed true composure and grit to smash his final routine, almost breaking 50 and get himself a bronze medal.

Holly Keeping was in the 15 to 16 section and hit beautiful form scores in her first exercise to hit a PB routine, after a well held 2nd exercise she had qualified to the final in 8th position. Within that final she smashed a PB and finish in 5th position only 0.4 away from a medal in a very tough group.

Louise Brownsey was in the Senior Ladies section and after two good routines in the prelim was sitting in 2nd position. Within the final Louise went for broke and encountered some unwanted travel to deal with. She held her nerve and finished the routine but had to settle for the 2nd medal this time.

Ashley Reed was in the Senior Mens section and showed great thinking under pressure to ensure he finished a routine and get qualified for the final in 8th position. Within that final he encountered a bit of travel to hit the end deck on move two, retaining his 8th position.

Josh Constable was in the Senior Mens section and after a great first exercise was actually leading the competition going into the final. Josh has done some work coping with nerves and this showed through as he held his nerve competing a high difficulty routine to land himself a 3rd position.

Louise Brownsey and partner Millie Harvey from Tolworth were competing in the senior ladies synchro section and put together a beautiful routine to finish in 1st place and bring home the gold.

Ashley Reed and James Ferrari were in the Senior Mens section and hit a good routine to put them in a guaranteed 2nd position. They had one more throw of the dice to try and move the pair from Coventry and it was actually going very well. They had less difficulty but showed beautiful form and synchro, unfortunately skill 10 came a cropper and we will never know but a strong 2nd position none the less.

Mark Baker judged for us all weekend taking on several roles on different apparatus and James Coomber, Ashley Reed, Ollie Reis and James Ferrari headed up the coaching team, always proud of our team for their efforts. Big thanks to all at home keeping Jumpers running whilst we were away.
