South East Awards 2019

The South East Awards 2019 were held at Reigate Golf Club on Tuesday 10th September. Team Jumpers had great all round success, achieving a number of nominations and awards.


Achievements

 

Mitchell Atkinson was recognized and received an award of merit for his contribution to coaching in the U21 Coach category. Atkinson also recently passed his UKCC Level 1 in Coaching Trampoline Gymnastics!

 

Greg Thompson received an award for his contribution to coaching in the 22+ Coach Category. Greg has been coaching at GJTC for many years now. He has made a huge impact on many gymnasts lives.

 

Rhys Gray was recognized for his International Achievement. Gray made a come back to Double-Mini Trampoline last year. Not only did he qualify for the British Championships in his first year back, he also made the team for the World Championships. He then qualified for the Senior Men’s DMT Final and finished in 6th!

 

Aeryn Ralph was nominated and awarded in the U21 Judge Category. Ralph volunteers an extreme number of hours to judge at competitions. She also recently passed her UKCC Level 1 in Coaching Trampoline Gymnastics!

 

Ruth Brownsey was awarded the Award of Merit in the 22+ Judge Category. Ruth judges at a number of national events and regional events. With fantastic dedication and amazing determination, this award is thoroughly deserved.

 

Martin Laws won a very special award, one that was not listed on the agenda. Every awards night, the President of the South East Gymnastics hands out the President Award. This award is for someone who has made a change within gymnastics in the region and has shown their dedication for an extremely long amount of time. This year was Martin’s year, as he was selected for this award. Congratulations Martin!

 

Louise Brownsey was nominated for two awards, one of them being the International Achievement and the other being Gymnastics Achievement. Brownsey saw the top of the podium all last season as she went undefeated throughout the 2018 season. This includes the 17-21 British Championships and the 17-21 World Age Group Champion! This was recognized at the Awards as she was congratulated for her success!

 

Liz Laws was also a receiver of an unexpected award. Laws received the Legacy Award. This award is presented to an individual who’s work within the region will leave a legacy. Liz received this award and thoroughly deserved this. Congratulations!

 

James Coomber was nominated for the Master Coach award for his work with Louise Brownsey and his work on the GB Performance Pathway Squad. Coomber has a passion for coaching and nothing will stop him from doing what he loves. James started coaching at Jumpers at the age of 14 and has fallen in love with it since. This award could not be more deserved. Congratulations James!

 

Peter Buravytskiy was recognized for his success on the International Level in Trampoline Gymnastics. Buravytskiy represented GBR at the 2017 World Age Group Championships in Bulgaria. He also saw Silver at the 2018 Youth European Championships in the Junior Boys Team! Peter has qualified for the 2019 British Championships and has high hopes to represent GBR at the World Age Group Championships in Tokyo later this year.

 


 

Many congratulations to everyone who attended the South East Awards. It’s great to see the success our region has when we all come together.
